Rey Cement Factory is the first cement factory in Iran and one of the first industrial complexes in the country, which was established at the same time as the beginning of industrial construction in Iran. This factory is located in the northeast of Rey and District 20 of Tehran Municipality, on a land with an area of about 90,000 square meters. Construction of the complex’s buildings began in 1932 and the complex was developed in 1981 in four different stages. The units of Ray Cement Factory were active until the end of 1983, until in March 1983, due to the development of Tehran and the conditions of old production along with the spread of pollution, the production of factory units was stopped and finally, in 1984 this complex was closed. At present, this complex has different buildings in different dimensions and sizes. Due to its history, size, and location, Rey Cement Factory has a high social, cultural and economic capacity to recreate and play a new role in the city, region and even country. The complex is currently in the hands of the Tehran Municipality, and the Urban Renewal Organization of Tehran, as the trustee of the complex, intends to put the ideas of planning and designing the complex together with the economic justification and the issues related to the investment of the mentioned ideas.
